If you have never been to the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, just outside of Savannah, Georgia, there might soon be additional reasons to visit! They are in a very large expansion mode and have expressed interest in including the Kassel Mission story! KMHS has recently had a few conversations with their president, Scott Loehr, and he agrees that the story of the Kassel Mission is very significant—given that it was the largest single group loss in any battle of the air war.
As well, Scott is intrigued with the KMHS efforts in recovering our KIAs, the KMHS website, our joint Airmen’s Memorial in Friedlos, Germany, and our continued efforts to memorialize our crew members. We have also had a 60-minute brief with their design team on the details of what the expansion will look like in the future. Simply amazing to see what they will be doing—and it will be even more extraordinary if they do include the KM story! It promises to be an unforgettable experience. Thank you Linda Dewey in your efforts here both past and present! We are strongly considering a KMHS Reunion there in the fall of 2026.
